Hi, I’m Meredith!

My life in movement began as yours did: in childhood. I gravitated toward activities that inspired my sense of discovery. The dance studio—where I formally began my studies in ballet in grade school—was a sanctuary where I felt emboldened to discover movement and free to be truly present in my body.

I’ve had the privilege of working with dance companies in New York and New Mexico, including the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet. My Pilates studies began when my Pilates teacher—who would later become my mentor— Blythe Kanis asked if I’d ever thought about teaching Pilates.

My mission as owner of Somos Pilates is to inspire a happier, healthier world by empowering you to live your best life, both in and outside the studio.

Our Core Values

At Somos Pilates, we are committed to protecting and perpetuating the legacy of Joseph and Clara Pilates while delivering optimistic, supportive, and challenging Pilates workouts in a safe and inclusive environment.

  • We believe in honest and ethical behavior across all business communications, decisions, and practices. We are committed to placing the common good of the community above personal interests, showing our internal and wider community that we can be trusted to always act with high moral and professional standards.

  • We believe in the power of innovation! We actively seek ideas that challenge the status quo and redefine the standards of excellence in everything we do. We value reflection, analysis, and taking initiative to advance and improve practices. We are committed to being progressive; following a lifelong journey of learning, development, and evolution.

  • We value the benefits of working cooperatively and collaboratively, actively demonstrating our commitment to common goals and objectives. We practice direct, clear, and candid communication, and take full ownership over results, upholding personal and collective accountability for what is accomplished and how.

  • We are committed to fostering a community environment—for both staff and clients—that reinforces diversity and establishes a cultural feeling of belonging for Black, Indigenous and non-Black People of Color, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people of all ages and abilities.

  • We believe in the establishment and promotion of sustainable practices in our community. We believe that sustainability encompasses three pillars; economy, society, and the environment. We strive to ensure that all business decisions and conditions are reflective of this.

  • We celebrate the body and mind; the privilege to serve and give back to our community; personal, professional, and social progress; individual and collective victories, perspectives, culture, and experiences; and the opportunity to hold a safe, inclusive, and equal space for all to experience genuine human connection and freedom to fully and proudly express themselves.
